I'm from the other side of the fence Pauly. The music's been crap in 05- alien's told me so. My attempt at a top 5 is...
1. Beck- Guero
2. Sunday night- The songs of Junior Kimbrough- Various
3. Queens of the Stoneage- Lullabies to Paralyze
4. The Cops- Stomp on Tripwires (actually late 04)
5. The Libertines- The Libertines (only discovered this year)
See- I've had to pilch from late 04. 06 is definitely looking like a good year though. Check out the Big Day Out lineup. My record store friend told me the "kids" think the lineup is "gay" so not too many munchkins running around- woohoo
yo pauly, saw architecture in helsinki at the rosemount when we were back in perth. they were great! (wasn't so keen on the bank holidays who supported). Sad thing was that, given the average age of the crowd, i was one of the few old enought to notice when they broke into a cover of the Zit Remedy song from Degrassi Junior High... oh the humanity.
"Everybody wants something, they'll take your money and never give up."
AIH were a tonne of fun. they played in brooklyn. i don't think they played zit remedy though.... i do remember that tune though... what a classic, makes you think that anyone could be in a band. hmmm.
faye.. libertines were 2004 and so was arcade fire (dr s).. who are the cops? sounds familiar but not bells are ringing. thanks for the lists guys... it is always fun to do. the strokes newie has just come out here but not too much buzz about it. there 15 minutes might be over!!! ouch!
Pauly, i know Arcade Fire first released the album 2004, but they only got a UK/Oz release in 2005. So i'm using that technicality to include them, as i only discovered them in late 2004/early 2005.
give me a break dude! ;)
dr. s.... i know, i know, i knew i was being harsh. sorry mate.... break given.
Hey Paul!
What's going on?
Big Day Out line up is ordinary. What the hell are Gerling doing on the main stage? and magic dirt. I'm going anyway, Franz will be good. Anyway....
1. Wolfmother
2. Franz Ferdinand
3. Gorillaz
4. QOTSA
5. System of a Down
What a set they played at last years BDO, I was sore as hell the next day. One hour of slipknot mosh mosh to one hour of SOAD, unreal.
Adrian's tip for 2006: Artic Monkies.
Can't wait for that album
