le stuff

pic - battery park memorial
not too much happening at the moment..... work
phones... as most would know by now, i have a new cell # md, you'd be jealous... a lovely new motorola
i finally finished reading skinny legs and all..... epic, i have started reading a quick Dan Brown page turner to counter balance that last monster.
last sunday i went to the beach at far rockaway again with amy roommate and ericano and then spent a lovely evening at pequena (amy's work). only here in brooklyn a relaxing evening means sitting outside a restaurant on the sidewalk (no table) for 3 hours sipping (well in my case guzzling) margaritas and watching the traffic go by..... believe it or not ot was suprisingly pleasant in a fort greene kinda way.
it is confirmed alicia and i are heading up to nantucket for the labor day long weekend. alicia has a friend up there and we have accepted a kind offer to stay up there. should be a ton of fun and i hope the weather holds out for a few more weeks and i get to see a bit more of the east coast.
up coming gigs national (missed out... sold out) pernice bros.
spoke to timmy saturday night..... hi tim! hi agee! hi all!

come on aussies... we're getting our butts kicked in the cricket... at least sam hill is winning DH world cups again!!!! go sam.

cell = mobile phone

I have got a new cell phone & number.
If I haven't sent you an email, just let me know & I will pass on the deets.

And we Ferried

In total we spent about 5 hours ferrying around city and out to Sandy Hook on the Jersey shores this weekend. Firstly on friday i got out of work a little early and went up to the 42nd St peirs and jumped on the 3hr Circle line ferry ride around Manhattan. it was fun and we had a few beers... the air was hell hazy from a weird weather system, humid and really f'ing hot. infact the whole weekend was a scorcher.... a little wacko. dinner at harry's burrito in the Village. yummmm. Saturday alicia & I went down to the peirs at walls street and just managed to get on a ferry out to Sandy hook. we had great plans to explore the area but it was so hot and we got stuck on the beach....once again the water was dubious and a little too Atlantic like. after some crossword action and reading about paris, nicole, jen, ang and brad it was almost 4 and we had to get ready and leave to get on the last ferry back to the city. we stood out on ferry rooftop and tried to makeout the mainland through the haze. so far, far rockaway is the best value for $$$... gonna try jones beach and i hear reece beach is ok too. summer is quickly running out of time and then it's the long haul through the cold months. a few of the outdoor shows have wound up already, but last thursday night A & I went to see a free movie under the brooklyn bridge and that was cool fun and what we (and most other) call a "new york moment". Yesterday morning we did SFA, except for brunch and a walk through Fort Greene. Went to JC's for an all meat barbie. Yay for meat. then it rained and now the city is cooler.

HI ALICIA!!!

Not An Exit

Due to the overwhelming feedback i received from mr_tonedeaf, i have prepared a day (today & maybe tomorrow if i have work work to do) dedicated to some of my rock experiences here in the city.

Firstly for all in perth ELECTRElane are on their way... i have said this to a few people - they do a top gig

SARAgenn is a friend who has heaps of cool songs... you can hear... http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.asp?epk_id=33681 completely different to electrelane, well non comparable actually. i've seen her a bunch of times at the C Note & 8 mile Creek. Listen to those song on link above.

I saw The Shins a while back.... they were good, far from mindblowing
I saw Doves a while back.... they were good, far from mindblowing, but managed to get some sweet gig photos

MUM AND DAD

why.... you are going to be in so much T-rouble if you don't work out how this all works soon

far far far rockaway

a do do do, a do do dah. my weekend was tops by far (rockaway). yesterday we went to far rockaway beach and the water was really nice, even if the weather was a little average. a strange thing happend though... and Ali K was unable to explain.... there were little clear jelly like things in the water that were in the shape of short krinkle cut chips... not the crisps type, but the oven bake type.... it was odd and i could feel them hitting my legs and i manage to grap one, hence the chip description..... odd. besides that the water was really quite nice - clear, calm although a little too breezy and a little too overcast. as always you have to allow enough time for the train trip out, finding snacks and trashy magazines. as we didn't even get to sit down on the sand until 4 ish.... we were really slow all morning (saturday nights fault). not helped by a (short) trip to bergen bagels for a yummy bagel and iced coffee. i did a bunch of other things over the weekend... all good and fun, including a trip to a farmers market at grand army plaza.... we bought a heap of el wierdo tooo-marrr-toes which paid back mucho in delicious foods.

Day 2

pic - camp
pic - some crackpot

So this site is a work in progress. feel free to make comments etc and if it don't work.... try again.

Last weekend alicia and i went on a little camping trip aka without car style. it has been a year since i have really driven a car... so i'm starting to have serious driving cravings. Anyways, we caught the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) out to a small town on long island. backpacks, tent, beach bags & chairs and all. we realised that the walk to the campground would be a little silly to do at 7pm on a friday night, so we called a local taxi (we were still in civilisation). it was a good plan cos we later found out the walk was about 3 miles (not 1 mile as i thought) and it would've taken f**king ages. So we turn up to the camping weekend in a taxi. nice one. we also left the camping weekend in a taxi, even better. The campsites were really nice and we had a picnic table and we set up our tent under some big trees. we were under the impression the beach was really close to the campsite, i guess it is if you have a car. but it was about a 40 min walk for those without. So the next day we walked to the beach..... not quite what i was expecting. Kinda like the Swan river on a bad day, week or year.... we didn't swim.... we did catch some sun-rays though (keep them handy for winter) and it was great spending time not doing anything at all. believe it or not we had a really good time and on saturday night we bought a 12 pack of Buds and played cards. Sunday we had more success, going to a nicer beach (water was yuk though) and we read and ate in the summer sun, we then called the cab to pick us up from where we were to take us to the LIRR station. the train was packed with trippers coming back from the hamptons and i was having trouble containing all our stuff. beach chairs and backpack everywhere!!! we eventually made it home after 2 transfers. yay for public transport.

Well a bunch of things are getting planned for the weekend. Hopefully go to jones beach on sunday for another beach installment... and make up for last weekends lack of swimming. Gonna try to go to the growers market at propect park / grand army plaza up near home. Saturday night there is an engagement party for 2 ace friends of alicia. so the shout out louds are playing at the mercury lounge at the end of the weekend. anybody heard of these swedish lads? saw them on new york noise and thought i'd give them a punt... watdoya-reckon?

For all interested Gaslight Radio's Z-Nation is on high rotation of late.
