2005 top 5 coming soon

i have filtered through my 2005 music purchases and i will share with all my top 5 of 2005 very very soon! yay! or as the seppos would spell.... yea!?!?!?! but when i look at all the music i have listened to over the year i never quite realise how much wasn't really from that year... usually it's within the last 5 years (as we all know back cataloguing is a dirty habit) and hopefully rarely past that unless the cd was less than $5 bucks. but anyways i do have a bunch of 2005 LP's (at least 5 anyway). fellow blogger(s), please compile and submit lists before winter break!!!! that's after fall..... hmm try thanksgiving!!!!... md end of november then.

yo! watsup man?

before i go on about the latest news... i am still cameraless except for my phone camera..... i have just bought a data cable off ebay, so i hope to be sharing my cheesy phone pics really soon (that would be orange american cheddar kind...mmmmm).

things have been busy as per usual (except work... i am a little slow right now, not too much on for me). last friday night alicia and i went to a great wedding down in battery park. it was for a lesbian couple who are good friend of alicia's. we all had heaps of fun, drank alot and danced real goofy until it was time to leave. we all walked up to hanover lane to a pub and ak & i were gonna kick on but we decided to head home cos we were going on a drive the next day to wedding number (2). got home around 2am... not too bad... could be worse.

saturday we struggled to get up early, we had to catch the 10:48am LIRR train to massapequa to hire our avis car for the weekend.... getting a car from long island is like 1/3 the price of getting one in the city.... but sheeezzzz it is an effort getting out there.... CRIKEY!!.... we didn't have the option and in the end $120.00 all up for a whole weekend is really hard to beat. i was on driving duty, for the whole weekend.... alicia claimed she had a sore finger or something and wouldn't get within 10' of the wheel.... hmm... so i drove and she directed pretty much every lane change for the first half of the trip. it was a real head fake for a while, being on the wrong side of the road and all..... but you quickly get used to it and i think because i hadn't driven for a year i had kinda unlearnt a few habits. it took ages to get there (new hampshire that is). we had all these less than semi-purposeful detours to try and find cool hiway attractions that would end up me driving into some vacant block on a dirt road in hicksville, 20 mins from the main road.... we did see deer on one of the dirt track though!! earlier on in the trip we did espy a wonderful chrome diner where we had an all day breakfast and too much coffee..... i love diners!!

so after a hour or so of detours and driving a distance say equal to getting to albany (WA) we made it to portsmouth NH. it was actually quite tricky getting around as we had no map???? so we drove around for a while and i kept asking ak if anything looked familar (she had been there before)..... we drove around more. finally we rang her groom friend (mike) at the pre-weddng dinner for family and so on. ak had all the instructions to get us to the house we were staying at. down this street..... no no, hold it we were talked thur where to go on the phone by mike where to go..... left, right etc.... see big white house on left..... go in the left entry..... blah blah blah... big black dog called lincoln... see ya later... so i pull up out the front of the house after getting this 5 min relayed conversation. ak gets out and doubtfully walks into the rightside apartment. hmmm so we wander around the house looking for fellow wedding attendees... everyone was out... saw some wedding gifts around, but with different names to the wedding we were going to, a little odd. ak went to the 'restroom' and i sat down and relaxed and started reading the newpaper that was on the couch for about 15 mins.... ak wanders around the house more and finally after 20 minutes says "there is no dog or dog bowl" only a fricking cat. so i pack up my gear and we quickly go nextdoor to be greeted by a big black goofy dog called lincoln. it turns out the neighbours had a wedding on this weekend too. i think ak can take the rap for our break & entering episode. nice one blondie!!! heh heh.

portsmouth is a lovely town and i hope to return soon. the sunday wedding was different to the friday night gig, but we had just as much fun, danced to a loopy band and our unknown table partners hillary, dustin & co were fun too!!! ak got to talk about the high school she went to in Falling Crutch Virginia with fellow VA mates and i about OZ... we drank all the wine we were allowed.... it was an early wedding though and we got kicked out around 8:30pm...... so we hit portsmouth and kicked on for a few more hours for more beers. actually we were home by 12:30 - 1am, so we were good. slept. got up , got the car from town, got lost a few more times, started to head back to brooklyn. drove drove and drove. finally made it home after dropping off the car halfway to montauk at around 11pm monday night.

tonight we are going to try and see the pernice brothers around the corner from my place and eat somewhere on 5th ave bklyn. tomorrow is coney island for putt putt and rollercoasters and the a bbq. sunday hopefully PS1 in queens and another bbq at bros and hang with aunty mary who is here on vacation. gonna try and get a brunch in a pequena too before the weather gets cooler. and cooler it shall get! rocktober is soon upon us and there are many cool gigs coming up real soon.

pics soon hopefully.

La Globe & ACK

- I took this last week at the tennis... see alicia on the far left in red!!! no b boy pose'n though..... this is the best i got..... so my labor day long weekend was a mixed bag. alicia and i went up to nantucket mass. to spend the some of the loveliest last days of summer hanging on the beach and soaking up the sun before fall. well well well we caught a bus up to Hyanis via providence. at hyanis we boarded the slow 2 hr ferry to nantucket. it was a pleasant trip and we just lay on the top deck of this ancient ferry and drank a few Buds & took a few pics as usual. we were met by alicia's friend susan at the dock in nantucket and we decided to go to the beach to see the sunset and have some wine.... it was all very lovely and we were thinking this was gonna be the shiznit weekend. while sitting on the beach sipping away this nice man came up to us and asked if it was our car in the carpark that had the window smashed in.... sounds like it. we packed up our stuff and went up to the car and noticed the window smashed and then we looked in and saw all our stuff on the backseat gone.... alicia had her purse, keys, new camera, new phone all her clothes stolen, i was luckier because my backpack was in the boot and i had my wallet in my pocket, but my beloved camera & i-shuffle were nicked and my new sneakers, phone & keys gone too.... it was really sad and poor alicia was only left with the clothes she was wearing at the time. we tried to recover from the blow and did all the nantucket stuff. the beaches were really beautiful and so relaxing and susan was the bestest host. we just didn't have enough time to fully recover from the robbery and fully relax in the amount of time we had off. special thanks to susan for looking after us, cheryl fudge for AK's new top and that dude that bought us a beer at the cambridge bar cos he felt sorry for us. i will try and source some pics soon so youse can see the wacky marvel of nantucket.

le stuff

pic - battery park memorial
not too much happening at the moment..... work
phones... as most would know by now, i have a new cell # md, you'd be jealous... a lovely new motorola
i finally finished reading skinny legs and all..... epic, i have started reading a quick Dan Brown page turner to counter balance that last monster.
last sunday i went to the beach at far rockaway again with amy roommate and ericano and then spent a lovely evening at pequena (amy's work). only here in brooklyn a relaxing evening means sitting outside a restaurant on the sidewalk (no table) for 3 hours sipping (well in my case guzzling) margaritas and watching the traffic go by..... believe it or not ot was suprisingly pleasant in a fort greene kinda way.
it is confirmed alicia and i are heading up to nantucket for the labor day long weekend. alicia has a friend up there and we have accepted a kind offer to stay up there. should be a ton of fun and i hope the weather holds out for a few more weeks and i get to see a bit more of the east coast.
up coming gigs national (missed out... sold out) pernice bros.
spoke to timmy saturday night..... hi tim! hi agee! hi all!

come on aussies... we're getting our butts kicked in the cricket... at least sam hill is winning DH world cups again!!!! go sam.

cell = mobile phone

I have got a new cell phone & number.
If I haven't sent you an email, just let me know & I will pass on the deets.

And we Ferried

In total we spent about 5 hours ferrying around city and out to Sandy Hook on the Jersey shores this weekend. Firstly on friday i got out of work a little early and went up to the 42nd St peirs and jumped on the 3hr Circle line ferry ride around Manhattan. it was fun and we had a few beers... the air was hell hazy from a weird weather system, humid and really f'ing hot. infact the whole weekend was a scorcher.... a little wacko. dinner at harry's burrito in the Village. yummmm. Saturday alicia & I went down to the peirs at walls street and just managed to get on a ferry out to Sandy hook. we had great plans to explore the area but it was so hot and we got stuck on the beach....once again the water was dubious and a little too Atlantic like. after some crossword action and reading about paris, nicole, jen, ang and brad it was almost 4 and we had to get ready and leave to get on the last ferry back to the city. we stood out on ferry rooftop and tried to makeout the mainland through the haze. so far, far rockaway is the best value for $$$... gonna try jones beach and i hear reece beach is ok too. summer is quickly running out of time and then it's the long haul through the cold months. a few of the outdoor shows have wound up already, but last thursday night A & I went to see a free movie under the brooklyn bridge and that was cool fun and what we (and most other) call a "new york moment". Yesterday morning we did SFA, except for brunch and a walk through Fort Greene. Went to JC's for an all meat barbie. Yay for meat. then it rained and now the city is cooler.

HI ALICIA!!!

Not An Exit

Due to the overwhelming feedback i received from mr_tonedeaf, i have prepared a day (today & maybe tomorrow if i have work work to do) dedicated to some of my rock experiences here in the city.

Firstly for all in perth ELECTRElane are on their way... i have said this to a few people - they do a top gig

SARAgenn is a friend who has heaps of cool songs... you can hear... http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.asp?epk_id=33681 completely different to electrelane, well non comparable actually. i've seen her a bunch of times at the C Note & 8 mile Creek. Listen to those song on link above.

I saw The Shins a while back.... they were good, far from mindblowing
