YES.... We're engaged

We're getting married!!!

It has been a few weeks since our return to New York, but I have to say that the beautiful sea shores of Fiji made it too hard to resist asking Alicia to marry me!!! We are excited and are starting to plan for a wedding in New Mexico come October this year. Love always Paul & Alicia xoxo

Hi Mum- Chrissy

Wine, i mean Dad & Anna / Dad kicking back at Penguin Is.

Penguin at the one and only / Sydney - Coogee Beach

What a time we have Had

Alicia and I spent quite a few weeks in Oz and then a week in Fiji.... and we had such a great time. Christmas with the whole fam, camping a few nights, road trips, roos, beach and sweetass weather the whole time. So spoilt. Adrian and Nhi got married and I caught up with the old crew, even went for a DH ride up at Mundaring. Couldn't ask for more. Sydney was beautiful as ever, even if the water temp was ice chilled. Fiji was a paradise like non other. People thought we would get bored sitting on a beach for a week... not a chance. Do yourself a favour and go to the Octopus Beach Resort for some of that scenic relaxation treatment.

So coming back to New York ended up being an anti-climax after the summer pleasures of the southern hemisphere. It is so fucking cold here that i can barely leave the house. It hasn't got above freezing for over a week and with the wind chill it has been around -15 to -20C ouch! But I am working hard on Anna & Andy's house, a bit of web stuff with John as well as getting my shit together finding a job. Alicia has gone to New Mexico for the week/end so I'm missing her too. I went out with Gero & Khanh to Soda on Vanderbilt the other night. lovely place and the happy hour was super long and the beers were only $3!!!! got to like that. So before I tell anyone more important news... even bigger news (fair dinkum) I will up load a pic of me coming to terms with the freezing NY winter weather.

..::taconic camping::..

mum, as promised, alicia and i went up to the Pittsfield, Berkshires in western Mass. for the Memorial weekend and had a really great time. did a long hike and a bunch of short walks. got a taste of the northeast wilderness. camped out for a few nights semi-roughing it! fun... bugs, catapillars and all!

Gigs

The National......: 7/10
The Walkmen.....: 7/10

forgot to bring my cam both gigs and i can't be bothered to do a review. they both had windows of sheer rock joy but only fleeting. i will admit i did turn to alicia after the walkmen played "the rat" and said...."it doesn't get any better than that"... and it was true.... but it wasn't enough... i was expecting more!

9 parts water : 1 part sand

not too many days go by where i see something and think..... gee that was a little weird: yesterday on the train home there was this really strange guy i have seen a few times over the year. one of those peeps who ride the subways for a living and he normally wanders around the car and freaks all out and asks for change. so he gets in the car and sprawls out on the bench and empties his pockets of all his change... a big hand full of quarters a leaves them on the bench. the guy next to him has his ipod on looks at the change an probably thinks that that was his weird quota for the day. so the mental guy gets up and walks down the car and starts asking people for change and then opens the door to the next car and starts car hopping asking for change, leaving say $10 - $15 on the bench.... what's up with the subway car hoppers anyway? straight past empty seats to the front or back of the train and sometimes back again?

(i shall now jump on the bandwagon as not to seem too out-o-date)...... next week i am going to see 2 NYC based bands. unfortunately not so underground.... so finally gonna see The National and then The Walkmen. Webster Hall (uh-oh, it's not t & a nite) rock photos only to follow peeps!

4 days in London pt III

My theory now is that no blog post is complete unless there is a sidewalk shot.... at night with an abandoned object (this case a cart).... flash use necessary.
ahh Dr. Sticky has a 'must do when on Oxford Street pic': http://drleephd.blogspot.com/

4 days in London pt II

Some contact shots at the Tate Modern and uh-oh the back of a cab!

4 Days in London pt I

Well my long weekend trip to London was bloody brilliant. I had such a fun time and I thank all who we apart of the weekend..... especially Alex & Juliette. Lee & Amy came down for Sunday evening and ate Okonomyaki at Lee's fav restaurant. And seeing Chris O, Tanya R, Melanie and David M (even though intoxicated for the most part) was really great.

I got to to a bunch of tourist type stuff including doing a lap of the London Eye, a long walk along the South Bank, Sir John Soan's house, a crazy theatre show below London Bridge, pub, pub & pub, food & more food, markets and walked about 20 miles...... we were super busy all weekend and the weather was cold (not too harsh) but generally sunny or close enough.

Thanks again Alex & Jules for making the trip so brilliant and looking after me!
